Job Responsibilities
Underwriting
- Provide technical assessment, including meeting with potential clients where necessary.
- Rates, accepts, rejects or modifies new business within delegated authority levels and Company guidelines to achieve profitable business growth.
Client servicing
Develops ongoing relationships with assigned producers to discuss and communicate on:
- Market trends and appetite, to promote the Surety Bond
- Underwriting issues including but not limited to decisions on bond wordings, cancellations, declinations and exposure concerns.
- Assists Underwriting Manager to identify issues of concern and works to resolve or improve them. May identify sales and marketing opportunities in the process.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or Business Adminstration
- 2 years or more of relevant working experience in Commercial Lines insurance, preferably in Surety Bond.
- Actively pursuing professional insurance designations such as ACII/AAII or equivalent designation preferred
- Thorought knowledge in interpreting and understanding of Financial Statements
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills
- Strong computer skills and the ability to work with multi-faceted systems
- Ability to effectively and independently manage workload while exhibiting good judgement
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build relationships, and must also exemplify teamwork
