Assistant Vice President/Senior Manager, Product-Motor Underwriting

Job Summary:
This role will be responsible for leading underwriting activities for Liberty’s selected Motor Insurance portfolio in Hong Kong. The incumbent will manage a team of 10, and will report directly to the Head of Motor Underwriting & Product in HK.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead underwriting activities and deliver timely new and renewal business quotations for designated distribution channels, and closely working with Underwriting Support and Policy Administration / Operations Team in timely servicing and policy document issuance
• Manage escalations and enquiries from producers and customers & negotiation of underwriting terms
• Manage a team of underwriters and assistant support staff by providing training, coaching and guidance
• Monitor top-line and bottom-line of selected Hong Kong Motor Line Underwriting portfolio to achieve the business objectives set forth by management
• Contribute and undertake special projects on product development, process improvement, authority control & governance, and pricing excellence

Job Requirements:

• At least 8 – 10 years of relevant underwriting & underwriting management experience in motor insurance line; any prior broker/agencies & placement experience would be preferred
• Team management experience, good communication skills in working with external parties & internal stakeholders (e.g. Distribution, Operations, Claims, Customer Service, Finance/Legal, etc.)
• Holder of IIQE Qualification Paper 1 & 2 a must
• Degree or above preferred, non-degree holders with relevant experience will be considered
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, customer centric with a strong sense of ownership, resilient to pressure
• Ability to drive results by identifying, and resolving problems within scope of responsibility
• Proficiency in MS Office / PowerPoint / Excel; knowledge in SQL / VBA would be an advantage
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese
